Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy

Effective September 25, 2026

This policy describes the consumer health data that EdgeMind Apps collects through the Peak app, where it comes from, whether it is shared, and how you can use your rights.

1. The health data we collect and how we use it

Peak collects consumer health data only through its AI meal scan, and only after you agree to it. The categories are:

  • the photo of a meal that you choose to scan
  • the estimate made from that photo: a name for the meal, marks for protein, fiber and healthy fat, and a calorie range when you have turned calories on
  • details from your profile, such as your goal, only if you give a separate yes to sending health details
  • the correction you type or dictate when you fix a meal's estimate

Purpose and use: we use this data only to make your meal estimate and show it to you. Peak's server passes the photo, and any details you allowed, to our AI provider, which returns the estimate. When you fix a meal, it passes your correction and the current estimate, and the AI provider returns the updated estimate. The estimate is saved on your phone with a small thumbnail of the photo.

2. Where it comes from

  • You, when you take or choose a meal photo to scan, when you allow profile details to be sent, and when you type or dictate a correction.
  • Our AI provider, which works out the meal estimate from the photo.

3. The health data we share

None. We do not share or sell consumer health data.

To make the meal scan work, we disclose the data in section 1 only to processors that act on our instructions under a contract. Under the law, that is not sharing.

4. Who we share it with

No third parties and no affiliates.

Our processors for the meal scan are:

  • Google, through Firebase Cloud Functions, which carries the request from the app to our AI provider
  • Anthropic, whose AI model Claude reads the photo and returns the estimate

5. Your rights and how to use them

Confirm and access
Ask whether we collect, share or sell your consumer health data, get a copy of it, and get a list of every third party and affiliate we have shared it with or sold it to, with an email address or other online way to contact each one.
Withdraw consent
Turn AI features off in Peak's Settings, or email us. After that, Peak sends no photo and no health details.
Delete
Delete your account in Peak's Settings, or email us. We delete the consumer health data we hold, including from archives and backups within 6 months, and tell our processors. Anthropic does not delete single requests early: it deletes them automatically within 30 days, except requests its safety systems flag, which it may keep for up to 2 years, and their safety scores for up to 7 years. Anthropic may also keep data longer where the law requires it.

How to ask

Email peak@edgemind.dev. You do not need a Peak account to ask. We may ask you to confirm that you are the person the data is about, for example by replying from the email address linked to your Peak account.

When we answer

We answer within 45 days of receiving your request. If we need more time, we may extend that once by another 45 days, and we will tell you why within the first 45 days. Requests are free.

How to appeal

If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our answer with the word Appeal. We answer your appeal in writing within 45 days of receiving it, with our reasons. If we deny your appeal, you can file a complaint with the Washington State Attorney General.
